Introduction to Home Schooling
Home schooling online offers choices and alternatives to parents, educators and students. As a model for independent and/or alternative education, it has several things to offer and consider.
- For the most part, online home schooling is an umbrella term that involves an array of methods for home-based and personalized enabled (even self-paced) learning type of actions and goals!
- It accommodates the needs of our contemporary life, is fast-paced, and is constantly changing and ever evolving technology that enables, enriches and drives the society and existence.
- It also supports children, families and teachers to attend to the real needs of the society surrounding education, specifically for those students who do, can, or will not attend public or private institutions on a permanent basis, but needs to learn differently or in other ways. In that sense you can call it “alternative”. Some view home schooling as very important, secondary, ridiculous, sub-standard, adult-led, learner-enabling and unique, modified…and so the beliefs, perceptions, even judgments thrive on both sides of the fence and everything in-between.
- Home-based tutoring is occasionally a term used or referred to literature.
- What home based schooling or online home schooling is not, according to eager practitioners, is mimicking the school methods at home!
- It can also refer to adult teaching or lifelong studying to an extent, which widens the capacity of even this discussion.
Whether teacher-led, K-12 @ home, with undying support, online home-schooling seems to increasingly become an alternative for parents, kids and individuals with exceptional needs, requirements and prospects of education.
